Manchester City are allegedly ready to attempt paying £100million to Tottenham for the signing of Harry Kane.
According to the Daily Star, this will be a ‘take-it-or-leave-it’ offer to Spurs, even though it’s believed Kane’s asking price is more likely to be closer to £150m.
Kane is one of the greatest strikers in global football and will no doubt be eager to win more titles following a tough period in that area with Tottenham, but it appears City may be hesitant to spend what’s needed for him.
The report says Pep Guardiola’s side won’t go much higher than £100m for the England international, who will be 28 next month and who has had growing problems with injuries in the past couple of years.
Even though Kane is one of the greatest finishers on the world, as well as a fantastic creative player, it may be that he’s left it a little late to attempt trying to leave Spurs for a larger club.
The 27-year-old could very certainly have left the north London club at any time in the past several years, but it appears he may have been really eager to remain loyal to them and help them achieve something.
Unfortunately, it may now make it tougher for Kane to obtain the transfer to City or another of Europe’s elite, as they may no longer be ready to spend the sort of money needed to get a deal done.
It would be fascinating to see if any other teams look at Kane’s asking price and decide they’d be prepared to take a risk on him at this point of his career.
