Sergio Ramos has hinted at which club he thinks PSG prodigy Kylian Mbappe will ultimately join if his own move to Paris is completed.
Prior to his recent move to Ligue 1, the defender spent 16 years with Real Madrid, earning five league championships and four Champions League medals. The seasoned Spaniard has agreed to a two-year contract and will partner Mbappe this season.
Liverpool and Real Madrid have both been strongly connected with the France international, who made his name at the 2018 World Cup.
Mbappe became the most expensive teenager in history the summer prior, when he joined PSG from Monaco. He has subsequently grown into one of the greatest strikers in the world. Indeed, the 22-year-old has 132 goals in 171 appearances for PSG in all competitions.
Mbappe, though, has so far refused to commit to a new deal after winning ten titles in four years in Paris.
The forward’s current contract is set to expire at the end of June. PSG, on the other hand, are now trying to persuade him to remain.
This has heightened Liverpool’s and Real Madrid’s interest in recruiting one of the world’s greatest strikers.
Despite an unhappy departure from the Bernabeu, Ramos has supported Mbappe in his pursuit of a reunion with his old club.
“I believe that great players must pass through there. However, I now want his inclusion on my squad. I want to win, and in order to do so, I want the finest by my side.
“I could never give advice on a personal level. I could share an event with him, but I would do it in secret.
“As a PSG player, I’d like to see him stay. I want to play with the greatest, and Mbappe is one of those players.”
Ramos acknowledged that he was ready to commit to the idea presented to him by sports director Leonardo and manager Mauricio Pochettino.
“Also the treatment I received. The president, Leonardo, Pochettino… they entrusted me with the critical devotion.
“I enjoy taking on new challenges. It is always beneficial to go beyond of one’s comfort zone. I am very pleased with my choice.”
