According to a new rumor, Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba will allegedly let his contract lapse and decide on his future next summer, dealing a major blow to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s ambitions.
Pogba is in the last year of his contract at Old Trafford and will be allowed to speak to foreign teams in January, ahead of a free transfer in the summer of 2022. Negotiations for a new contract have so far stagnated, despite the fact that several of Pogba’s colleagues have had their contracts extended.
The France international had an outstanding Euro 2020 campaign, despite his country’s earlier departure than anticipated. He is presently on vacation and will not be involved in United’s early pre-season activities.
Pogba leaving United on a free transfer is the last thing United wanted after spending £85 million on his return five years ago. This choice would also erode their bargaining position in any future sale talks, with recent reports indicating a possible swap deal including two Barcelona players.
Additionally, ESPN reports that staying at Old Trafford is still an option, but is much less probable.
Juventus remain interested in bringing him back to Turin. Indeed, there were rumors that Cristiano Ronaldo might return to Manchester in a stunning swap deal at one time.
However, there is concern that Pogba may talk with Juventus in January. He may then negotiate to join them for free in 2022.
Since Solskjaer took over from Jose Mourinho in December 2018, the 28-year-old has been a regular starter for United. His desire to leave, however, is not believed to be as strong as it was two years ago.
Pogba scored six goals in 42 appearances across all competitions to help United finish as Premier League runners-up. They also lost in the Europa League final against Villarreal.
Meanwhile, United are closing close on the formal signing of Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho. Additional high-profile names are likely to follow.
Manchester United are among the suitors for the sporting superstar.
Meanwhile, United is one of three Premier League teams allegedly monitoring Sporting CP prodigy Joelson Fernandes – and they are unfazed by the player’s hefty release clause.
Joelson has just four senior games for Sporting, but has already garnered attention from other clubs. Arsenal were especially interested in signing him last summer, and his father said Liverpool had had talks with him about a possible move.
Finally, the winger chose to remain in Lisbon, where he is contracted until 2023. However, if he continues to push for a breakthrough into the first squad, he may end up going elsewhere.
Man United are among the teams interested in Joelson, who has a €60 million release clause, according to Record through Sport Witness. This has not deterred United, who are continue to watch his progress.
At the moment, it seems improbable that Joelson will make a transfer this summer. He anticipates being given a greater opportunity at Sporting in the next season and wants to play in the Champions League as well.
United have, of course, agreed to acquire Jadon Sancho this summer to bolster their attacking options. Joelson, who often plays on the other side, may serve as a compliment to him in the future. However, it seems as if this is one for the future.
