Tottenham are allegedly prepared to make an opening offer for Southampton striker Danny Ings, hoping to partner him alongside Harry Kane coming season.
Saints are preparing for a Spurs offer as Daniel Levy seeks to bolster Kane’s backing while also protecting Nuno Espirito Santo’s team if the England captain insists on leaving. Given his established Premier League expertise, Ings has been targeted for both situations.
According to Eurosport, Daniel Levy intends to propose a contract worth less than the £20 million sought by Southampton. This is not an uncommon strategy for the Spurs chairman, who will aim for a meeting between the two teams in the middle.
Tottenham employed this tactic last summer when they bought Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from St Mary’s. They ultimately acquired the Denmark star for a mere £15 million.
To yet, Ings has declined to sign a new contract on the south coast. Southampton are now in a tough position, as the 28-year-old is free to depart next summer.
With that in mind, Spurs are attempting to recruit Ings on a cheap contract.
Ings has 34 Premier League goals in the past two seasons. Tottenham’s offense would become even more powerful with such a goal output. That is, assuming Kane remains and Son Heung-Min maintains his exceptional form from the last several seasons.
The major issue now is Kane’s future and Levy’s determination to retain the club’s icon.
Meanwhile, Tottenham are ‘finalizing’ a massive cash-plus-player swap deal in which a seasoned striker will make way for a promising Spanish winger, according to a reliable source.
Spurs looked to be on the verge of being left behind this summer as their search for a new manager took longer than anticipated. Nuno Espirito Santo was eventually chosen to assume the helm and was immediately thrust into a tough situation.
Harry Kane’s future remains uncertain despite continuous speculations of a mega-transfer to Manchester City.
Chelsea are also said to be interested, but Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is not going down without a fight.
Apart from the Kane drama, Tottenham have been quietly progressing on a number of fronts.
A recent study highlighted the efforts made toward capturing a second Serie A title, which would strengthen their defensive ranks.
However, the newest report from reputable source Fabrizio Romano surprised everyone.
Tottenham are on the brink of finalizing a cash-plus-player deal to transfer Sevilla winger Bryan Gil to North London, the Italian tweeted.
In April, the 20-year-old was linked to fierce rivals Arsenal, but media rumors regarding his future have since died down.
He had a breakout season last season on loan at Eibar. As a consequence, he earned three appearances for Spain’s senior squad in 2021.
Gil, who mainly plays as a left winger, is well regarded in his home nation. His inclusion on each of Spain’s national young teams going all the way back to the under-16 level demonstrates this fact.
Romano said that an agreement would be reached’soon,’ with Erik Lamela departing in the other direction.
Since 2016, the 29-year-old has seldom been more than a depth piece. As so, especially in light of his age, Tottenham will allegedly pay ‘€25m+add-ons’ to the transaction to balance it.
