Saul Niguez’s representatives are scheduled to travel to England on Sunday to negotiate a Premier League transfer for their client, with both Liverpool and Manchester United keen in his talents.
The 26-year-old has been granted permission to leave the Spanish champions this summer, and although his contract has a staggering £125 million release clause, an offer of between £35m-40m is expected to be approved.
Atleti are seeking to offload Saul during the summer transfer window and have granted his agents permission to seek a new club for the midfielder. And, as The Mirror reports, they will travel to England on Sunday to begin talks with a Premier League team.
Saul wants to settle his future as soon as possible and does not wish to be looking for a club when the new season begins. The midfielder has been a key member of this Atleti team, having appeared in over 300 matches for Los Rojiblancos.
He even made 33 La Liga appearances last season, scoring twice as Atletico Madrid won the championship for the first time since 2014. Despite his consistent performances for the club and his ability to fit in seamlessly with Diego Simeone’s strong brand of game, he has been placed on the transfer list after Rodrigo de Paul’s arrival.
Los Colchoneros are interested in cashing in on Saul and view the Premier League as a possible destination. Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester United have all been linked with the Spaniard, with the Reds reportedly planning an offer.
And it seems as if one of them is on the verge of securing their goal, with his representatives on route to England to explore the prospect of a Premier League transfer.
Saul was rumored to be joining Barcelona earlier this summer in an ambitious swap deal including Antoine Griezmann, but that move soon fizzled.
