The Italian champions want to sign the midfielder this summer after his outstanding Euro 2020 performance.
Juventus president Pavel Nedved stated that negotiations with Sassuolo about the acquisition of Manuel Locatelli are continuing, while also stating that he thinks the club’s value of the Italy midfielder is reasonable.
Locatelli has been the target of a serious Juve chase this summer after his outstanding individual exploits helped the Azzurri win the Euro 2020 championship.
However, the Turin side may have difficulties in completing the deal, since Arsenal are also interested in the star.
“We talked with Sassuolo and presented our offer, which we think is acceptable in the current environment, given the way Covid has impacted finances and the transfer market,” Nedved told Sport Mediaset on Saturday.
“We are confident that this is a reasonable and appropriate offer. We are always confident, but naturally, during discussions, some points must be addressed and settled.
“It’s self-evident when you want a player and the player wants you.”
Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali stated on Thursday that although Locatelli’s preferred destination is Turin, an unidentified English team is also interested in his services after Arsenal’s previous approach.
“He wants to join Juventus. We would gladly sell Manuel to Juventus… but they must pay the appropriate price “Carnevali corroborated.
“Arsenal made an offer for him, and a new English team has entered the competition as well,” he said.
Nedved also addressed speculation over Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at Juventus, who has been linked with a move away in recent weeks.
“Ronaldo is our player; he has one year remaining on his contract and we are delighted to have him “he said.
“Each year, he promised goals, and a lot of them. He is an elite player, and we rely on him.”
