Glenn Hoddle has praised Martin Odegaard and Thomas Partey for providing Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal with “perfect balance” in midfield.

The Gunners are in good form at the moment as they have won five Premier League games in a row.

Last time out they got the better of Leicester City as they won 2-0 at the Emirates.

Five straight wins but what Arsenal need now is…

Arsenal are now back up to fourth in the table. They are a point ahead of fifth-placed Man Utd, but they still have three games in hand over Ralf Rangnick’s side.

Partey and Odegaard have been among their star performers in recent weeks. They paid a total of £75m to bring the pair in from Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid respectively.

Odegaard was operated in an attacking position against Leicester while Partey offered protection to the back four.

Hoddle is of the belief that the two players are “perfect” options for Arsenal in midfield:

“For me they looked ok, [they were] not too bad. But they’ve now got their feet under the table and they’re now playing at their very best,” Hoddle told Premier League Productions (via the Mirror).

“The balance between them two players is perfect for the midfield, for me.

“Whoever goes in there and plays with them, at the moment it was Xhaka, but it could be anyone else.

“Those two, they’ve got a lovely balance, and I think that Partey now is screening that, he knows his job. I think he was trying to do everything when he first arrived he wanted to be a goalscorer and get in the box. He wanted to get back and defend, as well.

“Now they’re saying that’s your role in the team, and Odegaard then can go and play where he’s going to hurt other teams. As I say, I look at him now, he can’t wait for the next game.

“I don’t care who it is, he’s saying ‘give me the ball’, and when you’ve got a midfield player like that, you’re going to hurt teams.

“Yeah, they’ve got that lovely balance, particularly in the midfield.”
