Cristiano Ronaldo and his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez, who revealed they were having twins in October of last year, confirmed on Monday that one of the two kids had died.

In a joint statement on social media, Ronaldo and Rodriguez stated, “It is with deep sadness we have to announce that our baby boy passed away,” “It is the worst pain a parent can experience.”

“Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness,” they stated.

The pair thanked the physicians and nurses for their great help and treatment, but requested privacy throughout this tough period.

Ronaldo, 37, a five-time global player of the year, returned to Manchester United last year after winning titles with Real Madrid and Juventus.
