Salah returns, Liverpool and Arsenal triumph while Man City falters in EPL

Liverpool and Arsenal secured big wins in the English Premier League, while Manchester City stumbled in their title race. Liverpool defeated Brentford 4-1, Arsenal thrashed Burnley 5-0, and City was held to a 1-1 draw by Chelsea. Although City still has a game in hand, this slip-up could prove crucial in the league.

City needed a deflected strike from Rodri in the 83rd minute to salvage a draw after Raheem Sterling gave Chelsea an early lead. Rodri acknowledged that it’s just the beginning of the last part of the season and emphasized the need for stronger defending.

Liverpool and Arsenal have experienced the pain of competing with City for the league title in the past, so they understand the importance of capitalizing on any missteps. Liverpool narrowly missed out on the title to City twice, while Arsenal collapsed at the end of last season.

Despite dropping points, City extended their unbeaten run to 15 games in all competitions, having won 11 consecutive matches before facing Chelsea. They currently sit four points behind Liverpool and two points behind second-placed Arsenal.

In other news, Mohamed Salah made a successful return from injury and scored a goal for Liverpool against Brentford. However, Liverpool suffered injuries to Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota during the match, which could further stretch Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

Arsenal continued their impressive form by defeating Burnley 5-0, following their 6-0 victory over West Ham last week. Bukayo Saka scored twice, while Martin Odegaard, Leandro Trossard, and Kai Havertz also found the back of the net.

Erling Haaland had a frustrating game against Chelsea, missing a close-range header and failing to score from nine shots. Despite this, manager Pep Guardiola expressed confidence in Haaland’s abilities and believes he will bounce back.

The race for the top four positions in the league is also heating up. Aston Villa reclaimed fourth place with a 2-1 win against Fulham, while Tottenham suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to Wolves. Aston Villa and Tottenham are separated by just two points, and Manchester United could enhance their top-four chances with a victory over Luton.

Newcastle’s struggles at home continued as they had to come from behind twice to secure a 2-2 draw against Bournemouth. Matt Richie’s late goal salvaged a point but couldn’t end their winless run at home since December. Newcastle currently sits in seventh place, one point ahead of West Ham, who suffered their third consecutive defeat against Nottingham Forest.

The Premier League continues to provide thrilling action, and the title race and top-four battle are set to intensify in the coming weeks.
