Scholes, Man Utd treble winner, believes Ten Hag’s time is up

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has expressed his doubts about Erik ten Hag’s future at the club following their humiliating 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace on Monday night. Speaking to Premier League Productions, Scholes stated that the loss felt like a final nail in the coffin for the Dutch manager.

Scholes criticized the team’s lack of knowhow and effort, emphasizing that Manchester United should not be losing to a team like Crystal Palace. He initially believed that Ten Hag might get another year to work with the club, especially with the calming influence of new owners. However, after the recent defeat, Scholes feels that Ten Hag’s time at Old Trafford is running out.

The former midfielder also pondered the potential replacements for Ten Hag. With Thomas Tuchel leaving Bayern Munich, Scholes doesn’t believe this creates a bigger problem for Ten Hag, as the issues at Manchester United are already apparent. He believes that Ten Hag is on borrowed time and that his departure seems inevitable.

Scholes drew comparisons to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s tenure when he suffered a 4-1 defeat to Watford, stating that the feeling was similar and it signaled the end for the Norwegian manager. It remains to be seen what lies ahead for Ten Hag and Manchester United, but Scholes’ comments suggest a growing uncertainty surrounding the Dutchman’s future.
