Aston Villa’s President of Business Operations, Chris Heck, recently sat down for an interview with club legend Gabby Agbonlahor to discuss the progress of the club both on and off the pitch. The conversation took place at Villa Park, the iconic home of Aston Villa.
One of the main topics of discussion was Villa’s hopes of qualifying for the Champions League next season and their future ambitions. Heck expressed his optimism about the team’s chances and emphasized the importance of competing with the best teams in the sport.
In addition to their on-field aspirations, Heck also touched on Villa’s commercial growth. He highlighted the club’s efforts to improve their commercial standing in order to better compete with top teams. This includes plans to enhance Villa Park, while still preserving its iconic status.
Heck stated, “I love this place. I don’t think we should ever leave. Villa Park is iconic. It’s unique, and we can make it better.” He went on to explain that while there will be some renovations, such as rail seating and new seats, the club has no intention of changing any of the banners or other elements that make Villa Park special.
Over the next two summers, Villa will continue to clean up and reimagine their premium seating areas. They are also working on creating a concert venue for pre- and post-game entertainment, as well as an entertainment zone and a new superstore. Heck’s vision is to enhance the overall fan experience at Villa Park.
When asked about the possibility of moving away from Villa Park, Heck was adamant that it was not on the agenda. He praised the atmosphere created by the fans, particularly in the Holte End, and stated, “What they bring to Villa Park makes this place so unique and so special, and what I’ve learned is that you know leave it alone.”
Heck concluded by saying that there are no plans to move away from Villa Park in his lifetime, and he believes it should remain the club’s home for the foreseeable future. The focus will be on improving and modernizing the stadium while preserving its rich history and unique atmosphere.
Overall, Heck’s interview provided insight into Aston Villa’s progress and future plans, showcasing their commitment to success both on and off the pitch. With their sights set on Champions League qualification and a vision for enhancing Villa Park, the club is determined to establish themselves as a force to be reckoned with in English football.
