Man City’s FAYC final victory over Leeds makes Wilkinson proud

Manchester City’s U18 coach, Ben Wilkinson, expressed his pride in his players after their triumphant victory in the FA Youth Cup final against Leeds United. The match, held at the Etihad, saw City dominate with a resounding 4-0 win, courtesy of goals from Justin Oboavwoduo, Jaden Heskey, Stephen Mfuni, and Matty Warhurst.

Wilkinson couldn’t contain his excitement, stating, “To win the FA Youth Cup final is an amazing feeling. It’s such a prestigious trophy, and I’m delighted for everyone in the Academy as it’s truly a team effort. Countless individuals have dedicated their time and effort to develop these boys over the years.”

The coach also emphasized the significance of the victory, highlighting the electric atmosphere at the Etihad. “It’s a wonderful feeling to win it, and it’s such a great night for everyone here. The crowd was fantastic, and it’s a moment that everyone in the Academy can be really proud of.”

In terms of the teams, Manchester City fielded a strong lineup consisting of Grant, Henderson-Hall, Noble, Simpson-Pusey (c), Mfuni, Gray, Oboavwoduo (substituted by Okeke in the 73rd minute), Alfa-Ruprecht, Mukasa (substituted by Warhurst in the 73rd minute), Heskey, and Ndala. Leeds United’s lineup included Mahady, Richards, Toulson, Crew, Cresswell, Lopata-White, Vincent, Chadwick-Chaplain, Lane, Chambers, and McDonald.

The victory in the FA Youth Cup final marks a significant achievement for Manchester City’s youth development program. With such promising talent on display, it is clear that the future looks bright for both the club and these young players.
