Milan appoints Tare as sporting director following disappointing season

AC Milan have made a significant move in their management team by appointing Albanian Igli Tare as their new sporting director. This decision comes as part of a larger reset for the Serie A club following a disappointing season.

At 51 years old, Tare, a former forward, joins Milan after the team finished in eighth place in Serie A, failing to secure European qualification for the first time since 2019. The club’s chief executive, Giorgio Furlani, expressed his excitement about Tare’s appointment, stating that he is the perfect person to lead the team through this reset period.

Tare brings with him a wealth of experience, having spent 15 years as the sporting director at Lazio before departing in 2023. During his time at Lazio, he oversaw the team’s success in winning three Coppa Italia titles and three Supercoppa Italiana triumphs.

One of Tare’s immediate tasks may be to find a new head coach for the team. Sergio Conceicao, who took over just six months ago, is expected to be replaced after a mixed tenure. While Conceicao led Milan to a Supercoppa victory over Inter, his performance in Serie A was less impressive, winning only 11 out of 21 matches during the 2024-25 season.

The future looks uncertain for Milan as they navigate this period of change, but with Tare at the helm, fans will be hoping for a brighter future for the Rossoneri. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
