Brandt and Schlotterbeck end Hoffenheim’s unbeaten streak

Julian Brandt and Nico Schlotterbeck were the heroes for Borussia Dortmund as they secured a 2-0 victory over Hoffenheim, extending their unbeaten streak to six matches in the Bundesliga.

Despite Hoffenheim also being on a six-game unbeaten run, they couldn’t find a response after Dortmund scored on either side of the break.

The match started evenly, with Wouter Burger coming close with a long-range shot that was saved by Gregor Kobel. Brandt’s initial effort was stopped by Oliver Baumann, but he made no mistake with his 43rd-minute goal from Yan Couto’s delivery.

Schlotterbeck added the insurance goal in the 60th minute, turning past Baumann from a corner despite slipping in the process. Hoffenheim struggled to make an impact on the game, and Dortmund almost added to their lead when Serhou Guirassy hit the crossbar late on.

Brandt was the standout player, scoring in his 200th Bundesliga appearance for Dortmund. The team created 1.26 expected goals compared to Hoffenheim’s 1.22, with Brandt contributing 0.79 xG to the total.

Dortmund are now unbeaten in their last 10 Bundesliga home games, a stark improvement from their previous record. Baumann, on the other hand, equaled a negative record for most defeats by a goalkeeper in the Bundesliga.
