Buonanotte joins Leeds on loan following Chelsea departure

Leeds United have pulled off a late transfer coup by securing the loan signing of Facundo Buonanotte from Brighton for the rest of the 2025-26 season.

Initially loaned to Chelsea for the entire campaign, the midfielder’s move to Elland Road was fast-tracked after the Seagulls’ deal with the Blues fell through.

Despite only making eight appearances for Chelsea this season in various competitions, Buonanotte has shown promise with a goal and two assists to his name. His most recent contribution was providing an assist for Tosin Adarabioyo’s goal against Charlton in the FA Cup.

The 21-year-old, who has earned two caps for Argentina’s senior team, will now be vying for a spot in Daniel Farke’s starting lineup alongside the likes of Brenden Aaronson and Noah Okafor.

Leeds currently sit comfortably in 16th place, eight points clear of the relegation zone, as they gear up to face Fulham in their next match.

While their last league outing ended in a 3-4 defeat to Newcastle United, Leeds have been formidable at home, going unbeaten in four matches. This streak is their best since December 2021 under Marcelo Bielsa.
