Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly eyeing a move for Villarreal striker Georges Mikautadze, with reports suggesting they are willing to offer €50million to secure his services. The deal would hinge on activating his release clause, which is said to be valid until 2031.
Manager Thomas Frank is said to be dissatisfied with his current options up front, with Dominic Solanke failing to live up to his hefty price tag and Richarlison and the other strikers struggling for consistency. While Frank would have liked to reunite with Ivan Toney, it appears that the wages demanded by the Al-Ahli forward may be too high for Spurs.
As a result, Mikautadze has emerged as a prime target for the North London club. The Georgian international has impressed with four goals and two assists in 12 appearances for Villarreal this season, making him a key player for the La Liga outfit.
With Villarreal valuing Mikautadze highly, it seems that Tottenham will have to meet his release clause if they want to secure his services. The striker’s potential arrival could provide a much-needed boost to Spurs’ attacking options as they look to push for success in the Premier League.
