Bayer Munich are currently engaged in discussions with coach Thomas Tuchel regarding his potential stay for the upcoming season, according to reports.
Initially, Tuchel had made it known that he would be departing Bayern this summer. However, there seems to have been a change of heart, leading to talks about a possible U-turn.
Sky Deutschland has revealed that Bayern executives, along with Tuchel and his advisor, reached an agreement on Wednesday to explore the possibility of extending their collaboration beyond the current season. Nevertheless, a final agreement has not yet been reached, as there are still some details that need to be ironed out.
One of the main points of contention is the duration of the contract. Bayern is adamant about sticking to the original terms, which would see Tuchel remain until 2025, adding an extra season. However, Tuchel is now seeking a greater display of trust and is reportedly pushing for a new contract that would extend until 2026.
While the focus is currently on Tuchel, Bayern is keeping their options open and have other potential candidates in mind. In the event that an agreement cannot be reached with the German coach, Robert De Zerbi from Brighton & Hove Albion or Erik ten Hag from Manchester United could still be considered for the position.
It remains to be seen how these negotiations will unfold, but one thing is for certain – Bayern Munich is determined to secure a coach who can lead them to continued success on the pitch.
