Onana: Man Utd keeper ready to face challenges during construction

Manchester United shot-stopper Andre Onana has openly admitted that it has been a “bad season” for the club. The Red Devils finished in eighth place in the Premier League after their recent victory over Brighton, and they still have the FA Cup final against Manchester City to look forward to.

Speaking to the Overlap, Onana acknowledged the challenges they faced this season. “It’s a price to pay. Everything is temporary – last season they didn’t face that, and I’m 100 per cent sure that next season we will not face that,” he said.

The Cameroonian goalkeeper believes that injuries and the absence of key players played a significant role in their struggles. However, he also emphasized that it should not be used as an excuse. “It’s just a bad season for all of us, and we have to stay positive as we are doing at the moment. I know everything will be alright – if not this season, it will be next year,” Onana added.

Onana also addressed the criticism from pundits, stating that he doesn’t pay attention to it. He understands that Manchester United is currently a team under construction and not performing at their best. “We have other teams who are doing better than us, and we have to be honest and recognize that,” he admitted.

The 25-year-old goalkeeper also highlighted the unfairness of blaming the youngest player when things go wrong. He believes that as a part of the team, he is there to take the criticism alongside his teammates Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro, and Harry Maguire. Onana finds it peculiar when former players, who have achieved great success, criticize them. “We try to follow your thing and what you did. For me, I don’t mind, but other people may be affected,” he said.

In conclusion, Onana remains optimistic about the future of Manchester United despite their disappointing season. He believes that they will bounce back stronger next year and hopes to contribute to the team’s success.
