Kulusevski rescues Rangers with crucial equalizer against Tottenham

In a thrilling Europa League clash, Tottenham managed to salvage a point with a late equalizer from Dejan Kulusevski against Rangers. The match ended in a 1-1 draw, but the hosts put on an impressive performance at a fired-up Ibrox.

Rangers took the lead shortly after the break when Hamza Igamane found the back of the net with a well-taken effort. It was a deserved lead for the home side, who had been dominant throughout the game.

Vaclav Cerny had an opportunity to score for Rangers, but Fraser Forster denied him with a great save. Nedim Bajrami also came close to scoring, but he couldn’t quite meet Jefte’s excellent low cross from the left.

Just before halftime, Forster once again denied Cerny, but Ibrox erupted in celebration two minutes into the second half. James Tavernier’s brilliant cross from the right was guided home first-time by Igamane, extending Rangers’ lead.

Tottenham struggled to find their rhythm in the game, with Brennan Johnson and Jack Butland missing chances to score. However, Kulusevski, who came on as a substitute at halftime, calmly slotted the ball past Butland after an excellent cutback from Dominic Solanke, leveling the score.

Despite both teams pushing for a winner, the match ended in a draw. Substitute Cyriel Dessers had a chance to secure victory for Rangers, but Forster made a crucial save to deny him.

The result leaves Rangers in eighth place in the table, ahead of Tottenham on goal difference. It was a disappointing outcome for Tottenham’s under-pressure boss, but they can take solace in their unbeaten record against Scottish sides in European competition.

Igamane was once again in top form for Rangers, scoring his fourth goal of the season in the Europa League. He has been assisted by Tavernier, who has been directly involved in 16 goals in the competition. Tavernier’s performance also saw him reach a milestone, making his 53rd appearance in Europe’s secondary club competition.

On the other hand, Kulusevski’s goal marked a personal achievement for him. It was his first goal as a substitute for Tottenham and his second consecutive goal in back-to-back appearances this season.

Overall, it was an intense and entertaining match between two strong teams. Both sides showed their quality, but ultimately had to settle for a draw.
