Serie A marksmen eyeing blockbuster Premier League move

The Serie A title race is heating up as we approach the business end of the season, with just three points separating the top three contenders.

Defending champions Inter Milan are aiming to make history by successfully retaining their crown in 2025, but both Napoli and Atalanta have emerged as strong challengers this year.

As the title chase looks set to go down to the wire, the spotlight has been on some of Serie A’s top strikers.

However, several Premier League clubs are reportedly eyeing a new number nine for their summer transfer plans, and a number of Serie A forwards have been linked with a potential move to England.

Mateo Retegui – Atalanta

Mateo Retegui joined Atalanta last summer for a reported fee of €28 million and has made an impressive impact at Gewiss Stadium.

The 25-year-old has quickly established himself as one of Europe’s hottest young strikers, leading the race for the Serie A Golden Boot this season with 22 goals in 26 appearances.

Retegui’s remarkable goal conversion rate of 31% has attracted interest from top clubs across Europe, including Arsenal, who are reportedly considering him as a long-term number nine.

Marcus Thuram – Inter Milan

Marcus Thuram has continued to impress since joining Inter Milan from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2023. The 27-year-old scored his third Champions League goal of the season against Feyenoord, helping Inter secure a place in the quarter-finals.

Although Thuram has played second fiddle to Lautaro Martinez this season, he remains a highly sought-after player. The French striker is reportedly keen on a move to the Premier League, with Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chelsea all showing interest.

Moise Kean – Fiorentina

Moise Kean has been in sensational form for Fiorentina this season, following his permanent move from Juventus. The 25-year-old has scored 18 goals and provided assists in 25 appearances, placing him second in the Serie A goalscoring charts.

With Premier League clubs showing interest, Fiorentina may consider accepting a suitable offer for Kean this summer. Newcastle, who are facing the potential departure of Alexander Isak, reportedly see Kean as a replacement for their star striker.

The race for Serie A’s top strikers is heating up, and it remains to be seen which players will make a move to the Premier League in the upcoming transfer window.
