Dembele Wins Ballon d’Or 2025, Bonmati Makes History

In a thrilling turn of events, Ousmane Dembele clinched the 2025 men’s Ballon d’Or, beating out Lamine Yamal in a close race. The Paris Saint-Germain star had a stellar season, contributing to 46 goals across all competitions with 33 goals and 13 assists. PSG’s dominance saw them secure Ligue 1, the Coupe de France, and the Champions League titles.

Dembele’s standout performances in the second half of the season were key to his victory, with 25 goals and eight assists coming in that period. PSG’s treble-winning coach, Luis Enrique, was also recognized for his achievements, winning the Johan Cruyff Trophy for men’s coach of the year.

Despite missing the ceremony due to a match against Marseille, Enrique’s PSG side continued their success on the field. Yamal, who impressed with 20 goals and 23 assists for Barcelona, finished second in the Ballon d’Or voting.

Barcelona’s Aitana Bonmati made history by becoming the first woman to win the Ballon d’Or three times in a row. The 27-year-old played a pivotal role in Barca’s league triumph and Spain’s run to the Euro 2025 final.

The night also saw Yamal scoop the Kopa Award for the second consecutive year, while Vicky Lopez of Barcelona claimed the women’s Kopa Trophy. Gianluigi Donnarumma of Manchester City secured the men’s Yashin Trophy, with Hannah Hampton of Chelsea winning the women’s award for her penalty-saving heroics at Euro 2025.

Arsenal was named Women’s Club of the Year after their Women’s Champions League triumph, while Viktor Gyokeres and Ewa Pajor received the men’s and women’s Gerd Muller Trophies for their impressive goal-scoring feats.

The Ballon d’Or ceremony celebrated excellence in soccer across various categories, highlighting the outstanding achievements of players and coaches in the 2024-25 season.
