Gareth Bale returns to football with $46 million deal

Gareth Bale, the former Real Madrid star who hung up his boots in 2023 at the age of 33, is gearing up for a comeback in the football world.

The Welsh legend has reportedly tabled a bid exceeding 46 million euros to acquire Cardiff City, the club from his hometown.

“We’re interested in Cardiff. It’s my hometown club, where I grew up and my uncle (Chris Pike) played for them,” Bale revealed.

Vincent Tan, the current owner of Cardiff, seems willing to offload the Welsh club following their relegation from the Championship to League One earlier this year.

According to ‘The Times’, a consortium spearheaded by Bale has been eyeing a football team purchase, with previous ties to a failed takeover bid for Plymouth Argyle.

“To be part of an ownership group would be a dream come true. I would love to be part of Cardiff’s growth and take them to the Premier League, where they deserve to be,” expressed Bale.

Despite their interest, Cardiff has already turned down an initial undisclosed offer from Bale’s consortium.

Interestingly, the 46 million price tag for Cardiff City is significantly lower than the whopping 99 million Real Madrid shelled out for Bale’s services back in 2013.

“We are interested in Cardiff. It’s my hometown club, where I grew up and my uncle (Chris Pike) played for them,” shared Bale, now 35 years old.

“Being part of an ownership group would be a dream come true. I would love to be part of Cardiff’s growth and take them to the Premier League, where they deserve to be,” he reiterated.
