Key Talking Points: PSG’s Iconic Super Cup Comeback Against Tottenham

In a thrilling late comeback on Wednesday night, PSG emerged as the Super Cup champions in Udine after a dramatic penalty shootout victory against Tottenham.

Under the new management of Thomas Frank, PSG held a comfortable two-goal lead in the final minutes of the match. However, a stunning collapse by Tottenham saw the game head into extra time.

Lee Kang-In kickstarted the recovery for PSG with a brilliant strike from 20 yards out, followed by Goncalo Ramos scoring a late header in stoppage time to seal the victory.

The match went to penalties, with Vitinha missing PSG’s first spot-kick and van de Ven and Mathys Tel missing for Spurs. Nuno Mendes kept his cool to convert the winning penalty for PSG.

Despite the heartbreaking loss, Tottenham put up a strong fight against the reigning Champions League winners and can take positives from their performance in Udine.

PSG, who completed a European silverware sweep, showed signs of rustiness after their Club World Cup campaign but still managed to secure their fifth piece of silverware this year.

Tottenham, under new manager Frank, displayed improvements and pushed PSG to their limits. They will need to quickly regroup as they prepare for their upcoming domestic fixtures.

PSG will kick off their Ligue 1 title defense against Nantes, while Tottenham will face Burnley in their opening Premier League match. Both teams will be looking to bounce back from their Super Cup disappointment and focus on their domestic campaigns.
