Can Spain’s elite halt Real Madrid’s dominance in the 2024/25 season?

Real Madrid bounced back in spectacular fashion last season after losing their La Liga crown to Barcelona. Under the guidance of Carlo Ancelotti, Los Blancos secured their 36th La Liga title and added to their impressive trophy cabinet. They also clinched the Champions League title with a 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund. Ancelotti is now focused on making more history in the upcoming 2024/25 campaign.

Real Madrid’s attack has been bolstered with the addition of Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior, who scored a combined total of 34 goals in La Liga last season. The recent signing of Kylian Mbappe from PSG has sent shockwaves across the league. Mbappe, who is determined to win his first Champions League medal, joins an already stacked attacking roster at the Bernabeu.

While much attention has been given to Real Madrid’s attacking prowess, their success last season was also due to their solid defense. With goalkeeper Andriy Lunin performing exceptionally well, Ancelotti praised the defensive unit for their contributions. Madrid conceded only 26 goals in their 38 La Liga matches, the fewest among all clubs in the league.

The Bernabeu Stadium has become an impenetrable fortress for Real Madrid. They did not suffer a single defeat in front of their home supporters throughout the entire previous season. They claimed a thrilling victory over Barcelona in El Clasico and conceded only two goals at the Bernabeu in the final three months of the campaign. Apart from a loss to Villarreal, Madrid has maintained an impressive record at home, not suffering consecutive defeats in La Liga for over five years.

With their attacking firepower, defensive solidity, and formidable home record, Real Madrid is poised for another successful season under Ancelotti’s leadership. The stage is set for an exciting battle in La Liga as other clubs will try to challenge the reigning champions.
