Former Real Madrid player Robinho, who graced the Santiago Bernabeu from 2005 to 2008, has been transferred from Tremembe, known as the “prison of the famous,” to Limeira prison in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
The 41-year-old ex-footballer was handed a nine-year prison sentence after being found guilty of gang rape in Italy back in 2013. The move to Limeira was requested by Robinho’s defense team and confirmed by the Penitentiary Administration Secretariat.
Reports from ‘O Globo’ suggest that Robinho’s lawyers had previously sought a transfer for their client, but the request was initially denied. However, after appealing to the Prison Administration Secretariat, the move was eventually approved.
In an attempt to reduce his sentence, Robinho’s defense highlighted his completion of a professional training course in Basic Electronics, Radio, and Television. Despite their efforts, the court rejected their plea for a 50-day reduction.
Since retiring from football in 2020, Robinho has continued playing the beautiful game on the dirt field at the Penitentiary of Tremembe. This facility, also known as the “prison of the famous,” houses a variety of high-profile inmates, including politicians, celebrities, and infamous murderers.
Among his fellow inmates at Penitentiary II of Tremembe are individuals convicted of heinous crimes such as rape, kidnapping, and murder. The prison has garnered notoriety for its high-profile residents, including Alexandre Nardoni, Cristian Cravinhos, Roger Abdelmassih, and Lindemberg Alves.
Journalist Ullisses Campbell uncovered a unique aspect of life inside Robinho’s prison – a makeshift “Tinder” system that allowed inmates to connect with counterparts in a nearby module. This unconventional matchmaking service led to unexpected romantic entanglements between notorious murderers within the prison walls.
