Alonso credits Madrid quartet for Osasuna victory

Real Madrid’s new signings impressed in their LaLiga opener against Osasuna, according to Xabi Alonso. The defensive trio of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dean Huijsen, and Alvaro Carreras held firm as Madrid secured a 1-0 victory. Kylian Mbappe’s penalty and Abel Bretones’ red card sealed the win for the home side.

Alonso, making his debut as Madrid coach at the Santiago Bernabeu, also introduced €45m winger Franco Mastantuono in the second half. The 18-year-old became the third-youngest foreign debutant in LaLiga history, narrowly missing out on a goal with a close-range effort.

Looking ahead to their next match against Real Oviedo, Alonso praised his team’s solid start and highlighted areas for improvement. He emphasized the importance of building on their opening win and adapting to different challenges throughout the season.

Despite facing a deep-lying Osasuna side, Madrid showed resilience and determination to secure three points in front of their home fans. Alonso expressed his excitement for the future at the revamped Bernabeu, hinting at more memorable moments to come under his guidance.
