Ancelotti certain UEFA won’t ban Mbappe, Vinicius, Rudiger, and Ceballos

Carlo Ancelotti is confident that Real Madrid will not face any major player bans for their upcoming Champions League quarter-final against Arsenal, according to reports. UEFA recently announced an investigation into alleged misconduct by several Madrid players following their victory over Atletico Madrid in the European competition. The controversial penalty shootout win saw Julian Alvarez’s successful kick disallowed after a VAR review determined he had touched the ball twice. Four players from the Blancos squad, namely Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior, Antonio Rudiger, and Dani Ceballos, are currently being investigated for their conduct during the post-match celebrations. Spanish media has suggested that bans could be handed out, potentially affecting their availability for the quarter-final matches scheduled for April 8 and April 16.

Speaking to reporters, Ancelotti expressed his belief that everything was done correctly and expressed hope that UEFA would make a fair decision. He stated, “We trust that everything will end well.” While UEFA did not provide specific details about the incidents under review, it has been reported in Spanish media that Atletico filed a complaint regarding Madrid players taunting their fans after the match, leading to objects being thrown at them. Ancelotti reiterated his confidence in UEFA’s verdict, stating that the players were simply celebrating and had not done anything wrong.

In addition to discussing the ongoing investigation, Ancelotti also addressed Real Madrid’s pursuit of the LaLiga title. Despite trailing leaders Barcelona by three points in the standings, the Italian manager affirmed that his team would give their all to retain the championship. Real Madrid is set to face Leganes in LaLiga on Saturday, while Barcelona will take on Girona a day later. Atletico Madrid, who currently sit four points behind Real Madrid in second place, will visit Espanyol on Saturday.

Ancelotti acknowledged Barcelona’s advantage but emphasized that his team would fight until the end. He said, “I hope we have 17 matches [in all competitions] left until the end.” However, Real Madrid will be without goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois for their upcoming match against Leganes due to a muscle strain. Ancelotti expressed his hope that Courtois and other injured players, such as Ceballos and Ferland Mendy, would recover in time to face Arsenal.

As the season enters its final stretch, Ancelotti stressed the importance of performing well in every match, as each one could be decisive. Real Madrid will be aiming to secure success in both domestic and European competitions, and Ancelotti is determined to guide his team to victory.
