Barcola leads PSG to 10-point lead in Ligue 1

Paris Saint-Germain secured a thrilling comeback victory against Lens, with Bradley Barcola scoring a late winner to seal a 2-1 win. The goal marked Barcola’s 11th league goal of the season and extended PSG’s lead at the top of Ligue 1 to 10 points. Fabian Ruiz had earlier canceled out M’Bala Nzola’s first-half strike at Stade Bollaert-Delelis.

Despite enjoying an unbeaten first half of the season, PSG found themselves trailing in the 36th minute. Nzola controlled Goduine Koyalipou’s flicked corner and fired a low shot that proved too hot for Gianluigi Donnarumma to handle.

However, PSG fought back and leveled the score just before the hour mark. Barcola made a darting run into the area and delivered a precise pass to the unmarked Ruiz, who calmly slotted the ball home.

The turnaround was completed by Barcola himself, who netted the winning goal with only four minutes remaining. He finished off a swift counter-attack by firing into the top corner, securing all three points for PSG.

This victory marked a rare comeback for PSG, as they hadn’t won a Ligue 1 game after trailing at halftime since their triumph over Lille in October 2021. Additionally, Luis Enrique’s side extended their unbeaten streak in away league games to 33 matches, a feat only surpassed by AC Milan’s 38-match run between 1991 and 1993 in the top five European leagues.

PSG’s dominance against top-half teams in Ligue 1 continued, as they have now earned 25 out of a possible 27 points against such opponents this season. On the other hand, Lens remain winless in all nine of their matches against top-half teams.

In summary, PSG showcased their resilience and quality with a thrilling comeback victory against Lens. Barcola’s late winner secured the three points, extending PSG’s lead at the top of Ligue 1 and maintaining their unbeaten away record.
