Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has acknowledged that Lloyd Kelly is likely to depart the club this summer. The defender has attracted interest from Newcastle as his contract nears its expiration.
Iraola expressed his difficulty with the situation, stating, “For me, it’s very difficult right now. In my opinion, maybe I will receive a pleasant surprise, but it becomes even more challenging when time passes and a player arrives without a contract. I know the club has been pushing.”
He continued, “I have mentioned numerous times throughout the season that Lloyd is one of our best players. However, as the end approaches, it becomes increasingly difficult. But there are still chances. Until he is officially out of contract, there are possibilities.”
When asked about Kelly’s plans for the future, Iraola admitted, “I haven’t personally asked him what he intends to do next season or if he will re-sign. I don’t usually inquire about these matters with my players. However, I don’t believe it has affected his performances or attitude.”
The Bournemouth boss praised Kelly’s contributions this season, saying, “I think he has been very, very good for us. The only issue is that he hasn’t been as healthy as we would have liked him to be this season. But in the games he has played, he has performed admirably.”
