Chelsea star Mykhailo Mudryk, 23, has reportedly tested positive in a doping test and is now facing a potential four-year ban. Ukrainian media outlet Tribuna broke the news, revealing that Mudryk tested positive for meldonium, also known as mildronate. The player is expected to provide a public explanation soon, but for now, he has disabled comments on his Instagram account.
The positive test occurred at the end of October, with sample ‘A’ confirming the result. Mudryk will have to wait for sample ‘B’ to be opened and analyzed before any further action can be taken. It remains to be seen whether the Ukraine and Chelsea winger will be disqualified and, if so, for how long. It is worth noting that Mudryk has not played since December 1, when he faced Aston Villa. Since then, he has missed four matches with the London team.
Initially, the club attributed Mudryk’s absence from the game against Southampton on December 4 to a viral illness. Coach Enzo Maresca stated that Mudryk was still unwell and would not be available for the match against Tottenham: “In general, only Misha Mudryk is still ill. The rest of the team is fine.” Since then, the club has provided updates on Mudryk’s health status as he continues to miss matches.
Please note that this story is still developing, and further updates are expected.
