Tragic news has struck the soccer world as Liverpool’s Diogo Jota has passed away in a devastating road accident in Zamora. The 28-year-old Portuguese footballer was traveling with his brother Andre, also a professional player, when their vehicle veered off the road and caught fire.
Eyewitnesses reported that the car was engulfed in flames, causing a blaze that spread to the surrounding area. Jota, who joined Liverpool in 2020 from Wolverhampton for a hefty fee of 44.7 million euros, leaves behind a legacy of 182 games played, 65 goals scored, and 26 assists provided for the Reds.
During his time at Liverpool, Jota secured three major titles, including a Premier League triumph in the 2024-25 season. Prior to his stint at Anfield, the talented forward had a brief spell at Atletico Madrid after being signed from Pacos Ferreira in 2016 for 7 million euros.
Despite scoring in a friendly match against Crotone, Jota never made his official debut for Atletico and was subsequently loaned out to Porto before eventually finding success at Wolverhampton. His untimely passing has sent shockwaves through the football community, with tributes pouring in for the talented striker.
