Mohamed Salah signs 2-year contract, stays at Liverpool for a decade.

Liverpool Star Mohamed Salah Signs New Contract, Extending His Stay at Anfield

Liverpool fans can breathe a sigh of relief as Mohamed Salah has put pen to paper on a new contract, ensuring his presence at the club for the foreseeable future. The 32-year-old forward was one of three key players whose contracts were set to expire at the end of this season, alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk.

Salah’s decision to extend his stay comes as no surprise, considering his remarkable contributions to the team. With an impressive record of 243 goals in 394 appearances, he currently sits third on Liverpool’s all-time top scorers list. Although the length of Salah’s new deal was not disclosed by the club, manager Arne Slot confirmed in a recent news conference that it is a two-year contract.

Expressing his excitement, Salah stated, “Of course I’m very excited. We have a great team now. Before also we had a great team. But I signed because I think we have a chance to win other trophies and enjoy my football. It’s great, I had my best years here. I played eight years, hopefully it’s going to be 10. Enjoying my life here, enjoying my football. I had the best years in my career.”

Salah’s impact on Liverpool cannot be overstated. He has been the Premier League’s top scorer in three seasons, claimed the league’s player of the year award twice, and lifted seven major trophies, including the Premier League in 2020 and the Champions League in 2019. This season, his league-leading 27 goals have propelled Liverpool to an 11-point lead in their pursuit of a record-tying 20th English top-flight title.

Expressing his gratitude to the fans, Salah said, “I would like to say to (the fans), I am very, very happy to be here. I signed here because I believe we can win a lot of big trophies together. Keep supporting us and we’ll give it our best, and hopefully in the future we’re going to win more trophies.”

Manager Arne Slot commended sporting director Richard Hughes for securing Salah’s future and revealed that he had been confident about the player’s decision to stay. “Mo Salah is such a great player that as a free agent he can go probably to every club in the world, wherever he wants to,” Slot said. “But he stayed at our club.”

While Salah’s contract extension brings relief to Liverpool supporters, attention now turns to the futures of Van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold. Van Dijk, the commanding center back from the Netherlands, has hinted at progress in his contract negotiations. Alexander-Arnold, on the other hand, has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid and could potentially be on his way out of Anfield.

Liverpool fans will hope that Salah’s commitment to the club will inspire his teammates to follow suit, ensuring a bright future for the reigning Premier League champions.
