Paris Saint-Germain have been dealt a blow ahead of their upcoming Ligue 1 clash with Marseille as midfielder Joao Neves will be sidelined due to a hamstring injury. The Portugal international picked up the injury during PSG’s 4-0 win over Atalanta in the Champions League.
Neves, who has been a key player for PSG since joining from Benfica last year, will miss the highly anticipated Le Classique showdown on Sunday. He has been in fine form this season, scoring three goals, including a memorable hat-trick against Toulouse.
The 20-year-old joins Desire Doue and Ousmane Dembele on the injury list, adding to PSG’s selection woes. Despite the setbacks, PSG have been in impressive form in the league, winning all four of their opening games.
Facing Marseille will be a tough test for PSG, but if they come out victorious, it will mark the fourth time in the last nine seasons that they have won their first five league matches. This achievement has not been matched by any other team in Ligue 1 since Marseille accomplished it back in 2012-13.
Stay tuned for more updates on Neves’ recovery and PSG’s quest for continued success in the league.
