Yerry Mina’s agent has suggested that the Colombian defender could extend his stay at Cagliari for another season. The former Everton player is set to become a free agent this summer.
Speaking to TMW, Simone Rondanini, Mina’s agent, expressed his client’s satisfaction with life at Cagliari. Rondanini stated, “He feels good in Cagliari and he is a leader, in all respects. Cagliari needed this personality and coach Ranieri is one of the greatest in the world, he knows what he chooses.”
Mina has quickly become an integral part of Cagliari’s starting lineup since joining the club. Although he faced some initial challenges, he has adapted well to the team and vice versa. Rondanini added, “He’s really happy with this adventure, he talks about Ranieri as one of the best coaches he’s ever had. The squad, the people, are all close to him, there’s always an air of sunshine and of the sea and for a South American it is not an aspect to be underestimated. Now he just hopes to reach his goal: the salvation of Cagliari.”
Furthermore, Cagliari has the option to extend Mina’s contract for another season. While there have been other clubs expressing interest in the defender, Rondanini emphasized that their focus is on securing Cagliari’s safety in the league. He said, “Some calls have arrived, I won’t deny it, let’s see what emerges from the market. But I repeat: now the most important thing is the safety of Cagliari. And he feels great in Cagliari.”
As Mina’s future hangs in the balance, it remains to be seen whether Cagliari will exercise their option to keep him or if other clubs will make enticing offers. For now, the defender is solely focused on helping Cagliari avoid relegation.
