Former AC Milan coach Arrigo Sacchi has expressed his belief that Stefano Pioli’s successor should be Italian. Pioli is expected to be replaced by Milan at the end of the season.
In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Sacchi stated, “Much, if not everything, will depend on the choice of the new coach. If we talk about a young man, I say De Zerbi. In terms of experience, I suggest Sarri. But something else will count more than the profile, that is, Milan deciding with conviction and defending their choice with strength.”
Sacchi also advised the fans to have patience and trust the club, urging them to support Milan as they have always done. He emphasized the importance of unity between the fans and the club, stating that playing and winning requires a collective effort.
Speaking about Milan’s current ownership, Sacchi acknowledged their recent arrival and praised the club’s economic stability. He recognized their efforts in getting the club’s accounts in order. Sacchi also highlighted the previous ownership’s contribution in delivering a long-awaited championship to the fans.
“We are talking about a success that came by overcoming teams that had spent more, and in Italy there are at least two or three of them. Milan fans have always been very important but also demanding. They expect to see the team play well and give everything, but in the history of a club, there are also moments,” Sacchi added.
In summary, Sacchi’s advice to Milan is to carefully choose their next coach, emphasizing the need for conviction and unity. He also commended the club’s recent economic stability and recognized the fans’ expectations while acknowledging the ups and downs in a club’s history.
