Tudor praises David’s rare talent after win against Parma

Juventus boss Igor Tudor didn’t hold back in his praise for new signing Jonathan David, calling the striker a “rare talent” after he found the back of the net in his Serie A debut.

In a 2-0 victory over Parma at Allianz Stadium, both David and Dusan Vlahovic got on the scoresheet, while Andrea Cambiasso saw red late in the game for the hosts.

David’s goal came from a cross by Kenan Yildiz, who provided the assist for both goals. The Canadian international has now scored four goals in his last four opening league matches, dating back to his time at Lille.

At just 25 years old, David is only the second Canadian player to score in Serie A, following in the footsteps of Tajon Buchanan. Tudor was quick to highlight David’s quality in front of goal.

Speaking to DAZN Italia after the match, Tudor said, “I saw many positive things tonight in a tough game, even though we didn’t expect Parma to be so defensive. I told the players at half-time to stay focused and we would eventually find the breakthrough.”

“It was crucial to start strong, as we’ve seen from other results that winning at home isn’t always guaranteed against lower-ranked teams. We didn’t give them many chances, but Bremer made a crucial block to deny them a goal before we took the lead.”

“David’s movement in the box is exceptional, a rare talent. He’s always focused and ready to make an impact.”

With David opening his Serie A account on his debut, Juventus kicked off the 2025/26 season with a win against Parma. Watch the highlights from the game on JuventusFC’s Twitter page.
