Wilson moves to West Ham after leaving Newcastle

West Ham have officially secured the services of Callum Wilson, who was a free agent after leaving Newcastle United. The striker, who departed St. James’ Park at the end of last season, has signed a one-year contract with the Hammers.

Wilson, 33, had been with Newcastle since September 2020, racking up 130 appearances and scoring 49 goals across all competitions. However, injuries limited his playing time in recent seasons, with him starting just three out of 22 matches in the 2024-25 campaign.

“I’m thrilled to be joining a club as big as West Ham,” Wilson expressed on the club’s website. “The club’s values align with mine – hard work, dedication, and a hunger for success. I am eager to take on the challenge and contribute to the team’s goals of finishing high in the league.”

Having played for Bournemouth and Newcastle in the Premier League, Wilson has featured in 239 matches and found the back of the net 88 times. His most prolific season was in 2022-23 when he scored 18 goals, placing fifth in the Golden Boot race.

West Ham fans could see Wilson make his Premier League debut against Sunderland in their season opener on August 16. The striker is looking forward to showcasing his talent and helping the team achieve success on the pitch.
