Nottingham Forest skipper Ryan Yates has shed light on his goal celebration following their triumph over Sheffield United. Yates netted an uncommon goal in the 3-1 victory.
Speaking about the win, Yates expressed his joy, stating, “Yeah, it’s fantastic and I’m absolutely thrilled that we secured the win. In the first half, we were a bit lackluster, so I’m really glad we managed to come out on top.”
He continued, “I believe we were gradually growing into the game anyway. Although Sheffield United haven’t had the best season, they can be dangerous when they find their rhythm.”
“Our goal really killed their momentum and opened up the game for us. We took advantage of the space with the help of Callum Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga,” Yates explained.
The Forest captain also expressed his love for playing football on such a grand stage. He said, “I absolutely adore playing football at this level. It’s an absolute pleasure. Of course, I’d prefer us to be in a mid-table position right now, but that’s just part and parcel of the game. It’s up to us to work our way out of it.”
When asked about his swimming celebration, Yates revealed, “For a long time, the fans have been singing ‘If Yatesy scores, we’re in the Trent’. Hopefully, they’ll bring that chant back as it sort of died off! I’m just overjoyed, to be honest.”
