Postecoglou displeased with Australia trip

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has expressed his concerns about the upcoming trip to Australia, stating that it is “not ideal” for the team. Both Spurs and Newcastle will be heading Down Under next week.

Postecoglou acknowledged that the situation for Tottenham is different from that of Newcastle. While the Magpies have had a demanding European season, including the Champions League, Tottenham’s schedule has been less intense. However, the manager emphasized that the trip is crucial for exposure and revenue.

“If we were in Europe this year and had a busier game schedule, I probably would have declined the opportunity,” Postecoglou admitted. “And I don’t think the club would have expected us to go. If we qualify for Europe next year, I doubt you’ll see a similar situation.”

Although Postecoglou believes the trip is not ideal, he recognizes that each situation is unique. Considering Tottenham’s season and the chance to play one more game just two days after its conclusion, there is substance to the decision.

The manager revealed that he had an early discussion with the players about the trip, and they all understood the reasons behind it. They made a collective commitment to go, and that commitment will be honored.

In conclusion, while Postecoglou acknowledges the less-than-ideal nature of the Australia trip, he believes it is necessary for Tottenham at this point in their season. The players are fully aware of the reasons behind it and have committed to participating.
