Kompany urges Bayern to stay focused as Bundesliga title nears

Vincent Kompany remains cautious about celebrating too soon as Bayern Munich edges closer to securing the Bundesliga title. With an eight-point lead over Bayer Leverkusen, last season’s champions, Bayern only need a win against RB Leipzig to secure their 34th top-flight triumph. However, even if they don’t secure three points, they can still clinch the title if Leverkusen’s result matches theirs on Sunday.

Kompany, speaking to reporters on Friday, emphasized the importance of focusing on the upcoming game rather than planning celebrations. He acknowledged Leipzig’s talent and quality, expecting them to come out with full energy and attacking intent. Kompany also highlighted the tendency of teams to make radical decisions when facing Bayern, anticipating a tough match.

Bayern’s performance this season has been impressive, with only two losses in their first 31 Bundesliga games. They currently have 75 points, three more than they had at the end of the previous campaign. In their previous encounter with Leipzig, Bayern secured a 5-1 victory, and they have only lost one of their last 10 competitive games away at Leipzig.

However, Bayern will be without their top-scorer Harry Kane, who is suspended due to accumulating five yellow cards. Despite his absence, Kompany expressed confidence in Kane’s mental strength and confirmed that he will still travel with the squad. Kane has been instrumental for Bayern this season, scoring 36 goals and providing 12 assists in all competitions.

Kompany concluded by stating that he hasn’t seen anything in training to suggest that Kane won’t be playing on Saturday. He even hinted that some players might join the squad for the trip to Leipzig, with Kane likely not wanting to miss out on the opportunity.

In summary, Bayern Munich is on the verge of securing the Bundesliga title but remains focused on the upcoming match against RB Leipzig. Kompany is wary of celebrating prematurely and expects a tough challenge from Leipzig. Despite the absence of Harry Kane, Bayern remains confident in their squad’s abilities.
